FILMFARE DEDICATES ITS EXCLUSIVE JUNE EDITION TO FIFTEEN FABULOUS ECO WARRIORS OF BOLLYWOOD

Celebrated on June 5 every year, the World Environment Day serves as a symbol towards the belief that we’ll rise as one to take care of our environment. Filmfare has always highlighted and celebrated the on-screen endeavours of our film stars. But this month, we took a decision to applaud their efforts when it comes to environmental causes. Our stars have got a tremendous power to influence movements. Everything they do gets instantly talked about.

Knowing that, they keep amplifying initiatives taken for the betterment of mother nature through their social media handles. Some take it forward in a bigger way by being part of the UN and other international bodies. And some have started their own NGOs for the same. Stars have even adopted villages that bore the brunt of flood or famine and rehabilitated people by the thousands. Every little thing helps. Like banning water bottles on sets. Or distributing the excess food ordered during shoots to the needy. Most film units have a zero-wastage policy on their sets these days because the stars have started insisting on it.

They tom-tom about their achievements related to films but most chose to remain silent when it comes to charity. But we feel it’s also important to showcase the humanitarian side of the stars. As their example would definitely inspire their followers to invest their time and money in causes that need attention.

Hence, we have focussed the spotlight on such illustrious figures as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Bhumi Pednekar, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhat, Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Raveena Tandon, Rahul Bose and Nandita Das who have been working towards the betterment of environment for many years.
