Punjabi Comedy Viyah Kartare Da Promises Family Entertainment
New Delhi: The promotional campaign for the upcoming Punjabi film Viyah Kartare Da officially began with a press conference held at PVR Cinemas in the national capital. The event saw lead actors Gippy Grewal and Nimrat Khaira interacting with the media and sharing details about the film.
Directed by Sameer Kang, the film is described as a wholesome family comedy centered on marriage, emotions, and humor.
Speaking at the event, Gippy Grewal revealed that Viyah Kartare Da revolves around a young man determined to marry the woman he loves, despite resistance from his family. However, complications arise when the girl hesitates due to his unemployment.
The narrative unfolds through a series of humorous misunderstandings and relatable family situations, aiming to deliver laughs while highlighting the social realities of marriage in Punjabi households.
During the interaction, Gippy was asked whether portraying a police officer might affect the public perception of the Punjab Police. He confidently stated that audiences would feel proud after watching the film, adding that the character is portrayed with dignity and respect.
When asked if Nimrat Khaira would consider marrying someone like Kartare in real life, Nimrat Khaira responded humorously, saying she would not. She further shared that managing relatives is often more stressful than managing a wedding budget, joking that every wedding has at least one unhappy relative.
On a personal note, she mentioned that she would prefer a life partner who is loving and caring.
Punjabi Cinema’s Global Growth
Reflecting on the evolution of Punjabi cinema, Gippy Grewal spoke about how far the industry has come. He recalled the early days of his hit film Carry On Jatta, when promotional resources were limited.
Today, Punjabi films are reaching global audiences and expanding across India. He also highlighted collaboration efforts with Dharma Productions to broaden distribution and visibility.
According to him, Punjabi cinema continues to stand out for delivering clean, family-oriented entertainment.
