Saqib Saleem wins Gamechanger Of The Year for ’83’

Some people bend the rules to get to a worthy destination, but the rare ones change the game. Basking in the big success of 83, Saqib Saleem was honoured as ‘Gamechanger Of The Year’ at the Bollywood Films Journalists Awards for his stellar performance in 83. The versatile actor essayed the role of Mohinder Singh Amarnath, Vice-Captain of the Indian cricket team that brought home a memorable World Cup Victory.

Upon receiving the award, Saqib said, “It took me 12 years to get the Game Changer Of The Year Award. Thanks to everyone for believing in me. I would like to thank all the journalists in the room who have always showered their love and written lovely things about me. I am grateful for my director Kabir Khan for giving me 83 and helping me change my game.”

Saqib’s film gave us the chance to relive our epic World Cup victory attributed to the Indian cricket team led by Captain Kapil Dev and Vice-Captain Mohinder Amarnath. In a country that nerds out on cricket, playing the role of a cricketer wasn’t a cakewalk, but the actor rose to the challenge and nailed every move on and off the pitch.

On the work front, Saqib Saleem will be seen in  Crackdown Season 2 and will be also seen in the horror comedy Kakuda opposite Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh and his production Double XL starring Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Zaheer Iqbal, and Jenna Kerns.
