Tell us about Sita’s character in this new phase of the story on Sony SAB?
Sita’s character in the new phase of story will undergo a lot of ups and downs in terms of emotions. After an intense exile and being held captive at Raavan’s Ashok Vatika, it is incredibly exciting to finally usher in a period of happiness for Sita as she is reunited with Lord Ram. This is the reunion that the audiences have been waiting for. However, the journey of Sita doesn’t end there. The divine separation of the couple is looming and post which the audiences will see another challenging phase of her life.

What has been the most rewarding part of bringing the ancient tale of Ramayana to life for a modern audience?
The most rewarding part of bringing Ramayana to a modern audience is helping today’s generation reconnect with their culture. As people become more modern, they tend to drift away from their traditions. These ancient stories are important because they teach valuable lessons about life and how even gods faced challenges. By showing these stories, we can remind people that difficulties are a part of life, but they can be overcome. I think it’s important to share these lessons through such shows.

What aspect of Sita’s character did you resonate with? Any life lessons that you learnt from Sita?
I resonate with Sita’s calm and composed nature, which I see in myself too. Playing her character has taught me a lot. I used to think I had many problems, but our problems and challenges are nothing in front of what Sita faced. Now I’ve learned to understand the deeper meaning behind each challenge and joy. It’s helped me see the different phases of life more clearly.

How do you relate Sita’s story of sacrifice to the lives of women today?
Sita’s sacrifice is a significant chapter of the Ramayan that has inspired and influenced women for centuries. Her sacrifice is not just a mythological story but sheds light on many aspects of society and relationships. Sita gave up a lot for her family and love. Even today, women make numerous sacrifices for their families. They may have to give up their careers, dreams, and even their own identities.

How are you preparing to portray your character for this phase of the story?
To prepare for this new phase of Sita’s journey, I’ve immersed myself in understanding the complexities of her character and the evolving narrative. I’m particularly intrigued by her emotional arc as she navigates this challenging period. I’ve engaged in extensive discussions with the creative team to gain deeper insights, exploring nuances of her backstory and the underlying motivations driving her actions. This collaborative process has been invaluable in shaping my portrayal of Sita. Additionally, I’ve been delving into historical and cultural references to ensure authenticity in depicting the era. I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective to Sita’s story while honoring the character’s core.
