This Monday, on 5th December at 9:00 PM, the famed, ‘knowledge-based’ gameshow Kaun Banega Crorepati-14 on Sony Entertainment Television will host KBC Juniors, where children between the ages of 8 and 15 will take over the hotseat and play the most coveted game on Indian television. Surprising all in a special segment, the lead actress of the upcoming movie, Salaam Venky’ – Kajol, as well as the film’s director, Revathi, and the woman who served as the inspiration for the book “The Last Hurrah by Srikant Murthy,” which in turn served as the inspiration for the movie, Sujata, K., will appear on the show as special guests. Mr Amitabh Bachchan would also be seen in the full spirit of celebrating the young generation in the ‘KBC Juniors’ special, adorning cool sweatshirts, jackets, sneakers and hoodies to match up with the “trendy” young uns.
While the guests will be participating in the gameplay, they would be engaging with the other contestants as well, those on the Fastest Finger First seats. The kids would ask Kajol a flurry of questions in a fun rapid-fire fashion, ranging from whether or not she is a strict mother herself to whether or not her own mother was strict with her. One of the questions would also have the actress answer if she is still scared of Mr Bachchan after her role in the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ to which she would respond “yes” but the host would say according to a source close to set, “Mr Bachchan humorously would say that Kajol ma’am knows how to lie brilliantly to her response.”
On a more serious note, Revathi Ji would be commending the actual hero of her film ‘Salaam Venky’, Kolavennu Venkatesh, the 24-year-old who suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and inspired the book The Last Hurrah by Srikant Murthy’ which was adapted by the director. Talking about Venkatesh she would say, “Certain people face difficulties in life with so much spirit. He spent the remainder of the days of his life happily. The film is a mother and son’s journey, Venkatesh and his mother Sujata.” Continuing about the film’s inspiration, Kajol would also talk about the bravery of Sujata, “Simplest people are usually the bravest. At that time, whatever she did, she kept at it. She did not think whether she can do it or not and so she could do what she did.” The real-life inspiration, Sujata K. would be accompanied by her daughter and they too would be gracing the prestigious stage of the show and narrating Venkatesh’s story for all to hear and be inspired from.
Tune in to watch the team of ‘Salaam Venky’ grace the sets and kick off the ‘KBC Juniors’ week on 5th December on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati-14’ at 9 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.
